How to Train Your Dragon

For my first review I want to first off thank you for choosing to read it!
Ever since I first went to college and had to pay $7.25 for one movie ticket I thought the price was so amazing (vs the $5.00 I paid back home) I have been saving every movie ticket stub ever since. With those ticket stubs I will now go back and do what I have always wanted to do...be a critic. Because everyone is, just not everyone has a blog to do it publicly.

ANYWAY!

How to Train Your Dragon is a wonderful feel good movie. It is the story of how a young man, Hiccup, tries so hard to fit into the village's way of life and the career of his father by becoming a dragon killer. When he uses his genius inventions to capture the deadly NightFury he realizes he can never be like his father and when he goes to tell him, his father enrolls him in viking school. Next he befriends the dragon, learns everything the vikings think is wrong, and that the dragons are a slave to an even larger dragon monster! When he cheats his way through school and gains the love of his father and the village he tries to tell them that dragons are good, only to be ignored again. This incites a riot and Hiccup has to save everyone.

There are a lot of laughs, nothing dirty, and not too much slapstick. Really an inspiring movie about being yourself and eventually you'll find your place in this world and find happiness. The dragons are cute and feirce. The other school kids are a refreshing break from the usual sidekicks and the blacksmith/teacher is a wonderful practical smart man. A movie that all ages can enjoy, especially when all you want to do is smile. I saw it in 2D but 3D would make the dragon flight scenes a lot more exciting and add to the viewing pleasure.

I give How to Train Your Dragon a 4.5 outta 5 and I'm definently going to buy this movie when it comes out on DVD.
